Optimal Real-time co-ordinated management of congestion

The objective is investigate existing congestion management systems and to manage the development and implementation of a system, which could provide optimal management of traffic on the road network helping to reduce congestion, particularly for the worst 10% of journeys. The Project is split into 3 tasks: Task 1 - A review of the available real time systems Task 2 Development of strategies and mechanisms to resolve conflicts between the advices given by the different systems Task 3 Development and implementation of coordinated systems. - The production of a prototype coordinated real time incident management system design that will provide optimal reduction in congestion.
