This is the sixth transnationally funded research programme carried out under the CEDR Transnational Road Research Programme, initiated via the ERA-NET ROAD project. The Call for Proposals was launched on 18 September 2013 with a deadline for submissions of 17 December. In all, 56 proposals were received from 14 different European countries, with participation from 24 countries in total. Following evaluation by the PEB members, 14 proposals have been selected for inclusion in the programmes.
The five themes of the CEDR Call 2012 are: Ageing Infrastructure Management, Traffic Management, Safety, Energy Efficiency, Roads and Wildlife.
The participating road administrations in the Call 2013 are Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden and UK. These road administrations have committed all the funding for the research and also provide individual experts to provide technical management for the projects. The Call is being managed on behalf of CEDR by the National Roads Authority in Ireland: this will include organising the Call for Proposals, programme co-ordination, financial governance and general project management.
